The 44mm clincher is the all purpose carbon wheelset. No matter what type of riding you are doing, the 44mm depth with improved aerodynamic profile will be a great option for you. It's a great wheel set for climbing, descending, windy conditions, races, and even training. With the mid-depth aero rim height and improved design to handle the crosswinds these can be used even in very windy areas. With the low weight of the wheels they are a great climbing wheel set and on the opposite side of that climb the wider rim profile will make for great handling when flying down a descent.

We have also worked on an improved higher temperature rated carbon in the 2013 models. Now you can take the rims into hillier areas without worrying about overheating the rims. Please note that on extreme descending circumstances it's still possible to damage any rim (or transfer enough heat into the tire to blow it off the rim) so if you are descending major mountain passes we encourage the use of carbon tubulars or an alloy wheelset.Along with this new higher temperature rated carbon we have developed the new Blue Ice brake pads which offer excellent brake modulations, wet and dry stopping power, and the best heat dissipation out of any brake pads.
Each wheel is properly stress relieved multiple times to make sure it won’t ping and pop on those first few rides, and so it stays in true through the break in period as well. The wheels are built from initial tensioning to final touches by the same wheel builder allowing them to work with each small intricacy that a wheel may have. Finally, all our builders only work on our wheels. They know exactly how each one will build up, down to the point of how many turns to put on a nipple to get initial tension. The industry standard is to use high volume assembly factories where each builder is working on dozens of different brands and expected to build between 40-50 wheels per day. Speed is placed at a premium over quality, and in many cases the first 50-90% of the build process is handled by machine.
